The Bitten and Mads Clausen Foundation was founded by Bitten Clausen, the widow of Danfoss' founder Mads Clausen. The Foundation is governed by its Articles of Foundation, which are based on the wishes and ideas of Mads Clausen concerning the future development of Danfoss. This means that the Foundation supports activities that have a positive effect on Danfoss A/S, Danfoss employees and the local areas in which Danfoss operates.The Foundation is a registered foundation under the Danish Commerce and Companies Agency (Erhvervs- & Selskabsstyrelsen).Applications cannot be made to the Foundation. The Mads Clausen Foundation was established in 1960 and grants charitable donations. Over the years, the Foundation has granted considerable support for many different purposes: donations for schools in Pakistan, for cancer funds in Denmark as well money for an ultrasound scanner for a hospital in Slovenia, to mention a few.
The Foundation capital was originally donated by Danfoss’ founder, Mads Clausen, and has since been supplemented by donations from Danfoss and from the Bitten and Mads Clausen Foundation.
